As most of you are aware, we have been blessed with the gift of having two priests assigned to St. Isidore's starting July 1. We are thrilled that both Fr. Mike and Fr. Bob have joined our staff and are excited to see what the future holds. We hope that many of you will be able to come join us for a weekend Mass, or stop by the Center sometime soon to have the chance to formally meet them.
Fr. Mike was ordained on May 2, 1981, and has worked at 5 student centers during that time. "My priesthood has been with students in both teaching and preaching," explained Fr. Mike. Fr. Bob, ordained on April 7, 1973, is also no stranger to student centers as he has worked at 7 locations prior to St. Isidore's.
"I have been delightfully surprised at two things. The first was how warm, friendly and hospitable people in Manhattan are. Second, I was surprised at the level of activity and involvement at St. Isidore's. I knew it was active, but I did not realize it would be as big as it is," Fr Bob expressed.
Both Fr. Mike and Fr. Bob are looking forward to the arrival of the students. Fr. Mike additionally expressed his excitement with experiencing K-State football and being a Wildcat Catholic fan. "I am looking forward to celebrating the sacraments with all and being involved with the students and community in their faith journeys this year," added Fr. Bob.
When asked what part of their faith they are looking forward to sharing, Fr. Mike responded, "One of my favorite passages from St. Paul is found in Romans 12:2 - "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you may know God's will, what is good, pleasing and perfect". As a Dominican it is a love of study and prayer that delights my heart, and when others come to those "Aha" moments of God in their life, then I sense I have been a good servant with the few gifts I have." Fr. Bob explained that he is looking forward to preaching and opening up the Scriptures for the community and students.
